Discovering Ulza Lake in Albania
It was my first time visiting the town of Ulza, part of
Municipality of Mat in Albania. I was there for a project meeting and during my
free time I made a tour around this small town and lake together with my colleague.
I wasn’t expecting to see such a beauty and I was marveled by this town and the
Regional Park of Ulza. The small town was very clean and very relaxing. I
visited on December and I was prepared by dressing warm. I was walking around
and meet a few locals showing me proudly the view of lake surrounded by
mountains covered in snow.
It is a very well protected park, untouched by the human hand. The locals told me that this year they had many visitors, especially from Germany, Poland and France.
I had a lunch in local restaurant near the lake and I couldn’t
believe my eyes and couldn’t get rid of that view. The restaurant served baked beef meat and, fresh baked bread, delicious cheese and ‘turshi’ pickles. It really was a
delicious lunch with a nice view. Unfortunately I had to leave before 3 pm and
I couldn’t make a boat trip around the lake. But this inspired to make part of
my bucket list and visit again this year.
